The Atapuerca System increases its visits in 2014 by 23 percent and the Museum of Human Evolution by almost 30 percent

The Atapuerca System (MEH, the Archaeological Site and Park) totalled 438,441 visits this year compared to the 354,906 in 2013

The Atapuerca System (Museum of Human Evolution, the Atapuerca Site and the Archaeological Park) has increased its number of visits by 23.54 percent this year, totalling 438,441 visits in 2014 (while there were 354,906 visits in 2013). The Museum of Human Evolution (MEH) increased its visits by 29.52 percent, with 307,308 visits this year in comparison with the 237,261 from the last year. The Museum of Human Evolution data includes the permanent exhibition, which received 151,941 visitors (8.49 percent more than the previous year) and 155,367 people visited some of the temporary exhibitions that could be seen at the Museum in 2014 (The Cradle of Humankind, Uantoks, Bodies in Wax, the Feathered Neanderthal or Echoes, newly opened) or participated in some of the Museum's activities (series, workshops, concerts, etc.) over the past year.   Sites and Archaeological Park This positive trend is also seen in other tourist attractions in the Atapuerca System. Visits to the Sierra de Atapuerca Archaeological Site increased in 2014 by 9.59 percent over last year, totalling 73,423 visitors in 2014 compared to the 66,996 in 2013. Meanwhile, visits to the Archaeological Park increased by 13.94 percent, reaching 57,710 visitors in 2014.   The Atapuerca System has received 1,767,253 visits since the Museum of Human Evolution opened in July 2010. The Museum itself received 1,177,964 visits.
