THE MEH IS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL SCIENCE MUSEUM IN SPAIN ON THE INTERNET AND THE THIRD IN THE GENERAL RANKING, ACCORDING TO THE 'KLOUT' INDEX

This classification has been made by taking all the the Spanish museums on Twitter as a reference. 'Klout' is a web service that measures the degree of influence of a person or a brand on the Internet by analysing more than 400 different parameters in the seven most important social networks.

MEH

The Museum of Human Evolution (MEH) is the most influential museum or science institution in Spain on the Internet, according to the 'Klout' index or ranking, a measure of the influence of a person or a brand on the Internet. This service compiles a list of the biggest 'influencers' in Spain and the MEH appears in third position in the section relating to all the Museums, only behind the Prado and Guggenheim Museums, and ahead of institutions such as the Reina Sofía Museum or La Casa Encendida. That is what emerged from the latest list that appeared on the page topinfluencers.es, a website dedicated to offering data on the Klout Score.

'KLOUT' is a web service that measures the weight of each social profile on a scale from 1 to 100 (the higher the better the result). In the case of museums and cultural centres, their 'KLOUT' was measured based on all the Spanish centres on Twitter. To determine the 'klout score', it analyses more than 400 different parameters of the seven most important social networks and assigns users a score between 1 and 100. To improve your position on this social meter, it is advisable to follow some very basic guidelines, such as: High level of activity, record of online work, transmission of new and interesting information, generation of content, initiation and participation in conversations and rapid response to requests and questions from friends/followers.

The average  user 'KLOUT' number is 40 and those with a high index above the average are considered an Influencer, for example, those who belong to the group of 5% of users with a value greater than 60 are considered the most influential. The MEH is third in influence with an index of 79.

The 'Klout' Index is not a quantitative index that measures the volume of content generated or the number of followers of a person, but the ability to influence when transmitting their content. Users with thousands of fans on Facebook or Twitter but whose content is not shared or interacted with (Like, Retweet, Responses etc.) will not have a high 'Klout Score' and others who have fewer contacts but whose content spreads across the network by being shared and commented on can have very high ratings. Therefore, the position occupied in this index does not depend on the number of followers or fans that a person has, but on their social interaction. A Twitter account with 100 active followers may have a higher Klout rating than one with 10,000.

Eight social networks are analysed

Currently, more than 400 markers provided by eight social networks and various services and internet sites are taken into account. The way in which the 'Klout' index is calculated is as secret as Google's algorithm, although the factors that are taken into account to calculate it are indicated. To calculate the Klout index of a person who participates in several social networks, the following factors are taken into account:

Facebook, Likes, comments, posts, number of friends or fans.
Twitter, Followers, retweets, mentions, list members.
Instagram, Followers, likes, comments, photos uploaded.
Google+, Comments, +1, re-posts, only on a personal profile.
LinkedIn, Connections, recommendations and comments, only on a personal profile.
Foursquare, Tips saved by others, likes, number of friends and Check-ins.
Wikipedia. Incoming links and PageRank.
Bing, Mentions and searches completed.
Klout, +K received

The Klout service originally arose to find out the influence of a person on Twitter, but over time, due to its acceptance, other internet services have been added.
